Maharajas Express Informationn

The Maharajas' Express luxury train service began operations in March 2010by Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC). The train is known for offering world-class hospitality and unique way to discover India. The train has been the winner of several awards including World Travel Awards for several consecutive years in a row from 2012 to 2018. There are a total of 4 different itineraries that the Maharajas Express offers its guests such as Treasures of India, Indian Splendor, and Heritage of India and Indian Panorama.

Awards & Accolades Won

The Maharajas' Express was rewarded seven times in a row for being “The world's leading luxury train” from 2012- 2018. It was the first runner up in specialist train operators category at Conde Nast travelers reader choice awards 2011. It was also rewarded as adjudged Best luxury Train at CNBC travel Awards in 2011. It was also rewarded as adjudged Best luxury Train at CNBC travel Awards in 2010.

Concept of Carriage

The trains have 23 carriages, with 14 guest carriage and can carry 88 passenger capacities. As the train represents different aspects of Indian heritage, the carriage is named under precious stones, Moti (pearl), Heera (diamond), Neelam (Blue Sapphire), Feeroza (Turquoise), Monga (Coral), Pukhraj (Sapphire) and so on. The 23 carriage has wonderful accommodation including dining, bar, lounge, generator and store cars. The train also has a lounge with a private bar called Rajah Club and a bar car called Safari Bar.

Facilities

The Maharajas' Express is being run across North-west and central India with beautiful ambiance. It provides Wi-Fi in cabins, dining cars, lounge, bar, shop and attached bathroom with spacious sitting rooms. It has a telephone in every cabin to make national as well as international calls services.

Guest Cabins

The train is equipped with 43 guest cabins - 20 deluxe, 18 junior suites, 4 suites, and 1 Presidential Suite with a capacity of 88 passengers. The cabins are accommodated with five star equivalent facilities. The carriage has all in 2 bedrooms, a separate living area, a modern attached bathroom with bath tub and a dining room. Dining and Restaurant

There are two restaurants with 42 passenger capacity at any given time. The names of restaurants are - Mayur Mahal (Golden Peacock) and Rang Mahal (Palace of Colors) with a variety of cuisine including Chinese, continental, Mewari cuisine is served. All meal breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner are held in two restaurants. You can find every type of meal like lactose free, gluten free, vegan meal, non vegetarian and Jain meal.

Bar and Lounge Coaches

There is a bar coach named “Safari bar” with well-stocked beverages. Guests can also ask for wine, spirits, and beer from a variety of brands. The lounge bar “The Rajah club” lets the guest relax and have a lovely time on wheels. Both the bars are aligned with congenial sitting arrangement and contains extraordinary range of wines and spirits in the wine closet to make your journey more pleasurable.

  • The Indian Panorama tour for 6 nights / 7 days traveling through Delhi, Jaipur, Ranthambore and Fatehpur Sikri, Agra, Orchha and Khajuraho, Varanasi.
  • The Indian Splendour with duration 6 night s/ 7 days planned with destination to Delhi, Agra, Ranthambore, Jaipur, Bikaner, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Mumbai.
Train Route

A. Accommodation, onboard meals, wines & spirits, butler services, a guide for off-train excursions, complimentary tea, coffee, and mineral water.
Q. Are guides available for Journey?
A. For all off-train excursions, guides will be arranged. They can speak foreign languages too as per convenience.
Q. Do I need to take any vaccination to travel in Maharajas' Express?
A. Not mandatory, for prevention you can take. It is better to possess a Yellow Fever Vaccination certificate if you are from Yellow Fever epidemic country.
Q. Can I cancel the booked tickets? What is the cost of cancellation?
A. Yes, you can cancel your booked tickets. The cancellation charges follow as like. 1. If you cancel before 60 days of departure date, 25% of the fare will be deducted. 2. If you cancel before 45 to 59 days of departure date, 50% of the fare will be deducted. 3. If you cancel before 44 days or within, no refund will be granted.
Q. Can I transfer the ticket to another person?
A. No, it is not possible to transfer the ticket on a registered name to others.
Q. Is my tour insured?
A. Yes, your tour will always be insured under the circumstances of terrorism, theft, fire, and earthquake.
Q. Will Maharajas' Express cancel the booked tour?
A. Yes, if minimum passenger count is not reached, then booked tour will be canceled. Before 30 days you will get information if any happens like this and new journey date or refund will be issued in such cases.

A. Yes, for every traveler on the train one butler will be appointed to look after them.

A. At the booking time you have to mention is there anyone physically challenged. Then, the team will provide you a wheelchair and other services.

A. Yes, paramedical services are available throughout the journey. If any emergency treatment need, they will be available 24 hours to serve.
